Frequently asked questions
What is a normal fasting glucose in Canada?
By Diabetes Canada criteria, a fasting plasma glucose below 5.6 mmol/L is normal, 5.6–6.9 mmol/L is impaired fasting glucose (prediabetes), and 7.0 mmol/L or higher is in the diabetes range when confirmed on a repeat test or with symptoms.
Why should I also ask for fasting insulin?
Fasting glucose can look normal for years while insulin quietly rises to keep it there. Adding a fasting insulin lets you calculate HOMA-IR and catch insulin resistance early — the most treatable phase, especially for South Asians.
Can Ginie Health review my glucose results?
